Image of Melexis MLX92253 Dual Hall-Effect Latch Melexis MLX92253 is a CMOS-based Hall effect dual latch that incorporates a voltage regulator, two Hall sensors with offset cancellation, and two open-drain outputs in a single package.

The dual Hall sensors one for the Z axis and one for the X axis are integrated on a single silicon die with independent signal tracks and a shared magnetic center. This ensures a consistent 90° phase shift between the speed outputs regardless of magnet pole pitch, offering greater flexibility in magnetic design and faster platform reuse.

Each speed output can be switched on (low state) or off (high state) by applying a sufficiently strong magnetic field to the corresponding axis. OUT1 is sensitive to Z-axis fields, while OUT2 responds to X-axis fields. In the absence of a magnetic field, the device maintains its last state.

The start-up feedback function allows the device to operate as inputs during power-on. This feature enables the customer to recover the IC's last known state after a power-down, preventing missed turns. The microcontroller must provide the necessary inputs at the starting point. This function is detailed in Chapter 10.2.

The MLX92253 is packaged in a 5-pin TSOT (thin small outline transistor) surface-mount package that complies with green standards.
