The Soldered Electronics ST67 wireless breakout for STM32 is a compact and breadboard-friendly development board that brings Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4 connectivity to STM32-based embedded systems. At the heart of the board is the STMicroelectronics ST67W611M1, a dedicated low-power wireless coprocessor designed specifically for the STM32 ecosystem. By offloading all wireless communication to the ST67W611M1, the host STM32 microcontroller remains fully available for running application logic, ensuring efficient use of system resources in demanding embedded designs.
On the Wi-Fi side, the ST67 wireless breakout supports IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ax (Wi-Fi 6) operating on the 2.4 GHz band, delivering TCP throughput of up to 17 Mbps. It includes support for WPA3 security along with advanced Wi-Fi 6 features such as MU-MIMO, OFDMA, and Target Wake Time (TWT), which is particularly valuable for battery-powered IoT applications where minimizing energy consumption during idle periods is critical. The board supports STA, SoftAP, and concurrent STA + SoftAP modes, giving developers flexibility to implement a wide range of network topologies.
Bluetooth LE 5.4 operates concurrently alongside Wi-Fi, supporting data rates up to 2 Mbps across peer-to-peer, broadcast, and mesh topologies. Both radios share a built-in PCB antenna with all required RF matching components already integrated on-module, eliminating the need for external antenna design or RF tuning.
The breakout board operates from a single 3.3 V supply and communicates with the host microcontroller via SPI (up to 40 MHz, full-duplex) or UART (up to 2 Mbps), with IO voltage compatibility at both 1.8 V and 3.3 V for seamless integration with the full range of STM32 devices. An onboard 32.768 kHz crystal oscillator and a bank of decoupling capacitors ensure stable, noise-free operation right out of the box. The deep sleep current of just 90 microamps makes this board well-suited for low-power and battery-operated applications.
The board comes pre-flashed with the X-CUBE-ST67W61 Expansion Software Package, allowing developers to begin wireless development immediately without any initial firmware setup. With its 11-pin male header providing access to SPI, UART, CHIP_EN, BOOT, 3.3 V, and GND, the ST67 Wireless Breakout is ready to plug directly into a breadboard or connect to an STM32 Nucleo or Discovery board. The product carries FCC, CE/RED, IC (Canada), JRFARIB, RCM, RoHS, and REACH certifications, and operates across an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
