The LTC3350’s key attributes and performance differentiators include a 4.5 to 40 V input and output voltage range. It enables high current synchronous buck charging of one to four supercapacitors and provides a high current synchronous boost backup mode for maximum supercapacitor energy use. Other features are automatic cell balancing, over-voltage protection shunts and power-path control. The LTC3350 has an internal 14-bit ADC for accurate capacitor health and system monitoring, for measuring the capacitance value, measuring the capacitor equivalent series resistance, or ESR, and measure VIN, IIN, VCAP, ICAP. There is an I²C interface for data monitoring and capacitor charge control. For the user’s convenience the LTC3350 is an all N-FET design.
